Brooksie Broome Sturdivant is the president and founder of 3e LLC. She earned a doctoral degree in Educational Leadership (Ed.D.) from Appalachian State University. She completed an award-winning, qualitative study titled Resilient African-American Women: Autethnographic and Narrative Inquiry of Subjectivity and Agency, which explores the impact of maternal neglect on children and young adults. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Middle Grades Education from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. In addition, she holds a Master of School Administration degree and a Specialist of Education (Ed.S.) certificate from Appalachian State University as well as a Nonprofit Management Certification program with the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
Having worked in education as a teacher, literacy coach, curriculum facilitator, equity specialist, intervention coordinator, and adjunct professor, Dr. Sturdivant loves developing and facilitating professional development sessions, coaching teachers, volunteering in the community, and mentoring underserved youth. During her teaching tenure, she co-founded the “Mentoring in the Middle” after school program and GIRL TIME, a community-based enrichment program for adolescent females. She also served as the coordinator for the Ladybugs program for high school girls for seven years. In addition, she was recognized as Teacher of the Year for her school and was one of five finalists for the district's Teacher of the Year recognition.
Consequently, Dr. Sturdivant is also very active in the community. She is a member of the Board of Directors and the secretary for the Mildred S. Hairston Youth Center, which provides services for youth in her hometown. She also serves on the Advisory Board for a state credit union branch and for the Women in Educational Leadership Symposium (WIELS) of Appalachian State University. In addition, she provides exciting read-alouds to area youth in costume. Her volunteer services are unending as she strives to empower youth one child at a time.
Dr. Sturdivant is proud to have received recognition as one of ten honorees for the WFMY News 2 “2 Those Who Care” award in 2006 for volunteering in the community with youth. In addition, she is a 2016 graduate of Other Voices, a 7-month leadership training that promotes diversity and inclusion. She is caring, considerate, and constantly contributing to the lives of others because she truly believes we should strive to empower others and work to “be the change we wish to see in the world.” ~ Mohandas Gandhi
Dr. Brooksie Broome Sturdivant is a native of Walnut Cove, NC, which is located in Stokes County. She currently resides in Raleigh, NC with her husband, Mr. Norlonn A. Sturdivant.
